The Klein Competition Commission

For over four decades, the San Francisco based Irving M. Klein International String Competition attracts highly talented young musicians from around the world to compete for cash and performance prizes each June. Yu-Hui is honored to be commissioned to write for the semifinalists to perform in the 2027 competition. She will compose four unaccompanied solo pieces for violin, viola, cello and double bass, hoping to offer them perspectives and ideas of today’s music.
